COVID-19 RESTAURANT PROTOCOL

Updated COVID Protocol

Under the guidance of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), proof of vaccination remains a requirement for indoor and outdoor dining at restaurants for the time being.

You and all guests 12 years and older, must be fully vaccinated (2 doses) to enter the restaurant. Please see the BC government website for information about the proof of vaccination requirements.

To avoid disappointment, please ensure that all members of your dining group are vaccinated before making reservations. In order to protect the health and safety of our staff and other patrons, we will not make any exceptions.

STEM’s Safety House Rules will continue to be enforced:

  • Guests 12 years and older will be required to show the government-issued proof of vaccination and ID
  • We are still not at full capacity and seating will remain limited with tables set apart
  • Guest seating will be limited to tables of a maximum of 6 guests
  • Staff will continue to wear masks
  • Guests are required to wear masks when entering and exiting, and when not seated at a table — including when using the washroom
  • Staff and guests are required to confirm a health declaration
  • Modified service style to support social distancing measures and reduce contact with one another
  • Prohibiting guests from waiting inside the restaurant while waiting for a table
  • Allowing only one group into the entrance area at a time — asking others to wait outside until the entrance is clear.
  • Plexiglass at the counter and between each table for additional protection.
  • Continuing sanitization protocols for the entrance door, washroom and door, credit card machine, menus, tables, chairs, counter, etc.
  • Cash not accepted.Only Debit, Visa, and Mastercard

Updated COVID Protocol

As announced on August 27, 2021, by order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), proof of vaccination will be required for indoor and outdoor dining at restaurants from September 13, 2021. The requirements are in place until January 31, 2022.

The BC government will be providing BC residents with digital and paper vaccine cards by September 13th. This applies to everyone born in 2009 or earlier (12+).

From September 13th, you must be either fully (2 doses) or partially vaccinated (1 dose). By October 24th, you must be fully vaccinated to enter the restaurant. Please see the BC government website for information about the proof of vaccination requirements.

Dear Stem Supporters

Following the recent announcement by the PHO (Public Health Officer), we are in Step 3 of BC’s restart plan. However, we are not lifting any current restrictions, and will continue with our “house rules” to ensure a safe dining experience for our customers.

As the pandemic continues, the safety of our team and our customers will continue to be our top priority. Please remember to respect our staff, as we are doing our best to serve you while following our safety house rules.

STEM SAFETY HOUSE RULES

  • Our seating capacity is not fully back to normal, and seating will remain limited with tables set apart

  • Staff will continue to wear masks

Indoor dining will resume on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Our very popular takeout service will continue during business hours, and our patio will remain open to customers on a first-come-first-serve basis. We can’t wait to welcome you and your family back to our dining room.

In accordance with the PHO Order on Restaurants, we are happy to receive reservations to a maximum of 6 people (not restricted to your household or bubble). Guests are required to wear a mask when not seated at their own table, and physical barriers continue to be in place.

In addition to all public health guidelines for restaurants, we are taking additional precautions for sanitation, distancing, and maintaining the health of our employees. It is so important to us that we provide a safe environment for our guests who continue to support our business.

Beginning Saturday, May 1, we will begin outdoor dining on a small patio outside the restaurant. The patio is open throughout the day from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The patio menu will be updated on an on-going basis and includes many of our most popular dishes. We look forward to seeing you in-person again soon!

We will again be closed on Mondays starting from next week. We thank you for your continued support and understanding during these ever-changing times. We want to do the best for our customers!

In addition to on-going health and safety measures instituted by the staff, we will follow the PHO Order on Restaurants and restrict outdoor reservations to those in the same household. Masks must be worn at all times when entering the restaurant facility. Reservations can be made by calling 604-434-0250 (please do not email for reservations).

Currently, the patio is not weather-proof, but we will have a cover installed soon. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Dear Stem Supporters,

Due to the recent restrictions to in-restaurant dining announced by the Public Health Authority, we have once again returned to takeout only service. We will reopen on Thursday, April 1st for both lunch and dinner takeout.

We will be open Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 19:00 for takeout. Please call (604-434-0250) or email stemtogo@gmail.com in advance to place your order. We regret that we will have to cancel any reservations for after March 29th, 2021.

For lunch, we are offering two new special menu items:

  • Wagyu Minced Katsu Don (on rice) – $15
  • Kara-Tama Don (karaage and tamago-yaki on rice) – $12

We have updated our takeout menu and are offering many of our customer favourites.

All wine and sake bottles are 20% off the list price for takeout! Order a bottle to enjoy with your at-home meal.

Here are some additional particulars about our new hours and service.

  • Email orders can be placed anytime, but should be placed at least 90 minutes before your preferred pickup time
  • Phone orders can be placed during store hours (Wednesday to Sunday, 12:00 – 19:00)
  • Please see our Takeout Menu for the latest order items
  • We continue to offer a limited number of Kaiseki Bento to-go. Please place your order at least 24 hours in advance to avoid disappointment.

The safety of our customers and staff continues to be the priority. We closely adhere to public health guidelines for sanitation and hygiene, and require that all guests entering the premises for pickup wear a mask.

Dear Stem Supporters

Following the recent announcement by the PHO (Public Health Officer), we have reassessed our public safety plan and made the following changes.

First and foremost, your safety is our #1 priority.

We are committed to continuing to ensure a safe and enjoyable dining experience for all our guests during this time. Please remember to respect our staff, as we are doing our best to serve you while following our safety plan.

In addition to the existing safety precautions, here are some of the ways we are following Provincial Health regulation to keep you safe.

  • Asking guests to limit their groups to members of the same household, only until Nov 23rd at noon.
  • Ensuring that staff wear masks and requiring all our guests to wear masks when entering and when not seated at a table— include when using the washroom.
  • Requiring all staff and guests to confirm a health declaration.
  • Modifying our service style to support social distancing measures and reduce contact with one another.
  • Prohibiting guests from waiting inside the restaurant while waiting for a table.
  • Allowing only ONE GROUP into the entrance area at a time; asking others to wait outside until the entrance is clear.
  • Installing plexiglass on the counter for additional protection.

To Our Valued Customers,

We would like to thank you for supporting us during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been a challenge for us all, but we are happy to announce that we will be reopening our dine-in operation on Thursday, June 11th, in accordance with the local government and health authorities.

The health and well-being of our employees and guests remain our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe environment and will be implementing additional safety and hygiene measures to meet the guidelines of local health authorities. These include:

  • All employees will undergo health checks before entering the restaurant. If they present any signs of illness, they will not enter the building.
  • Employees will follow strict hygiene protocol at all times.
  • We will not be using the waiting space inside the restaurant. Guests are requested to wait outside or in their cars after checking in with us.
  • We strongly encourage guests to call ahead (604-434-0250) for a reservation.
  • Hand sanitizers will be provided to all guests at each table.
  • Tables have been set up for a maximum of 6 people per table and set 2 metres apart.
  • Counter seats will be limited.
  • Menus will be single-use to reduce handling. See the updated dine-in menu.
  • Markings on the floor are in place to ensure social distancing in the washroom area.
  • Washrooms will be sanitized every 30 minutes.
  • We will only be accepting debit and credit cards for payment.
  • All surfaces will be sanitized thoroughly between each seating.

The dining experience will no doubt be different for the time being. We are committed to providing you with a safe dining space and our passion for delivering great food remains the same. For those of you who are not yet ready to join us, our take out option remains available. We will continue to follow the guidance of our local health authorities in the coming weeks and months.
